Steven "Steve" Wayne Dudek

Steven “Steve” Wayne Dudek, 67, of Duluth, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Essentia Health St Mary’s Medical Center.

Steve was born in Duluth to Beverly and Walter Dudek on September 21, 1955. He went to Duluth Central High school, class of 74. He served in the U.S. Army from 1975-1978 and was a proud supporter of 23rd Veteran and all those who served. He spent his life working to help other people at various places including Lutheran social services, Bethany Crisis Shelter, RSI, REM and Essentia Health as an ER security guard. He spent his life committed to playing basketball and softball, as well as coaching women's softball. He received a Citizen Hero award in 2013. 

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary, Greg and Brad; grandparents; uncles; and aunts.

Steve is survived by his children, Melissa (Jeff) Reisdorf and Zach Dudek; grandchildren, Connor, Chevie, Joe, Aidan, Gavin, Delanie, and Ivy; brothers, Brian and Mychael; eight nieces/nephews; and former wife and lifelong friend, Myrna Dudek.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Jones, Essentia Health nurses and doctors in the ER, Vascular and Cardiology Departments for all their care, hard work, and dedication this last year. Words cannot express the comfort felt in your care. 

Visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 15th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 PM. Private family burial at a later date at the MN State Veterans Cemetery - Duluth. Per Steve’s request, please keep your dress casual.
