Steven Oksa Obituary

The world became a darker place on 06/06/2016 when the light of my life, my eternal partner lost his 20+ year battle with cancer. Steven John Oksa was born June 15th 1969 in Virginia MN. Steve graduated from Virginia high school 1987, spent 8 years in the Navy before graduating from University of Minnesota in 2002 with his PHD in Pharmacy.                 Steve and I met in Aug 1993 and married May Day 1996. We raised two sons together Evan & Andrew. Together we shared a passion for growing flowers, berries and apples. He would always say he was a farmer "just not a very good one", yet somehow his pies and jams are legendary.                 Steve had a love for the outdoors which he passed on to our youngest Andrew, and an addiction for buying and selling coins, an addiction he passed on to our oldest Evan, Steve loves animals, dogs, chickens, SpongeBob and Pokémon. This love was shared with our grandson Auron.             Steve was kind and generous to family and friends, always with a sharp wit. The Fourth of July parties at the Oksa's were the best in northern Minnesota. He is celebrated for his pyrotechnic skills, BBQs and He-Man skills.            Steve is survived by, wife Tara Oksa, his sons Evan Unverdorben (Cristy Knutson) and Andrew Unverdorben, grandson Auron Unverdorben and Auron's mother Kelsey Hales, his parents Rich and Alice Oksa. Steve is also survived by his brother Mark Oksa (Brenda Oksa), his brothers-in-law Brian Lane (Jamie Olaf) and Steven Lane (Rhonda Lane) and his father-in-law Ronnie Lane (Linda Lane) and many other family and friends whose lives were bettered from knowing him.                   Steve's estranged parents will be holding a private gathering July 8th. We wish them the very best. For Steve's family, loved ones, friends we will host an open venue celebrating Steve's life at our home in August.  Please visit www.SunriseFuneralHomeandCemetery.com  for further details to come.                 Steve will always be the light of my life and will forever live on in all of us that he touched.
