Sandra "Sandy'' Lynn Andler, 76, passed away on May 7, 2021 in New Hope, MN. Sandy was a caregiver with a big heart. She was devoted to her special needs clients and their care. She was fun-loving and enjoyed life. She also was strong as she dealt with her many health issues the past several years.
Sandy was born in Glenwood, MN to Joseph and Lenora Mahon on July 7, 1944. She attended Mountain Lake High School. After moving to Minneapolis she worked as a food server and drove bus for Metro Transit. After relocating to Duluth, MN she attended Lake Superior College to become a Direct Service Professional and owned and operated Andler Homes for several years.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lenora Mahon Hinderer; stepfather, Otto Hinderer; sisters, Joyce Mahon, Marlys Mahon and JoAnn Bloom; and brother, Byrnell "Butch" Mahon.
Sandy is survived by her son, Scott Thienes; grandson, Ryan Dehn; granddaughter, Andrea Winkelried; great-granddaughter, Kristin Newville; great-great-granddaughter, Delilah Newville; sister, Glenda Friesen; sister-in –law, Janise Mahon; nephews, Roger Bloom, David (Diane) Bloom, Terry (Rita) Bloom and Ryan (Theresa) Friesen; nieces, Barbara (Tom) Ramsden, Peggy (Jerry) Domjahn, Robin Bergeron, Delilah (Jim) Kreuser, Jonna Schultz and Londa (Dennis) Bilski.
Visitation will be held at 1 pm on July 12th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with memorial service to follow at 2 pm. Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association.
