Ronald Jon Guimont, known to friends as “Ron” residing in Matthews, North Carolina, formally of Duluth, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren on January 24, 2023.

Ron passed away after a 3-year battle with melanoma. He didn’t just fight through his diagnosis, he lived graciously and vibrantly and inspired many through his journey.

Ron was born in Biwabik, Minnesota, May 14, 1952 to Donald and Jean (Perhi) Guimont. He was raised in Two Harbors, MN with his parents and siblings, Jim and Bonnie.

He worked at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota providing care in the Post Cardiac Care Unit, the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, and the Cardiac Catheterization & Electrophysiology Lab. He retired in July 2017 after 37 successful years of providing care to patients. He positively impacted so many lives and his imprint on those he loved will well outlive his 70 years.

Ron met his wife and best friend, Shari, while attending the College of St. Scholastica in 1976. They married in Duluth, Minnesota on May 19, 1979 at the Cathedral of St. Scholastica. Ron and Shari had a beautiful marriage of over 43 years which was full of love and adventure. Ron and Shari had a daughter, Elise, who was his pride and joy. In 2018, Ron became a grandpa, affectionately known as “Grampy” to Reagan (2018) and Selma (2020). Reagan and Selma were his favorite little girls. He beamed with joy and declared becoming a grandfather as his favorite job ever.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, kayaking, and scuba diving. Ron was an expert scuba diver and avid skier seeing both the tops of many mountain ranges around the world along with the depths of the waters seeing many sunken ships in the Great Lakes, especially Lake Superior.
