Roberta Ceryes Obituary

Roberta Gayle Ceryes (Lofquist) (Manz), 76, of Duluth, went home to Jesus on Sunday, February 28, 2021. She passed at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Roberta “Bobbie” was born in Duluth to Robert and Lois Manz on January 20, 1945. She graduated from Duluth East High School in 1963. She went on to earn her LPN and worked most of her 37 year career at St. Mary’s Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Department. She had the joy of assisting with the birth of countless babies, including many grandbabies and even her great-grandbabies. She remained close with many past co-workers and cherished their friendships until the end.

She was a shining example of a true Godly woman. She attended Anchor Point church and was very active with her church community groups including Via de Cristo and women’s bible groups. Her faith and love for her savior, Jesus Christ, brought her great comfort in her final days. Bobbie loved her family and friends more than anything. Her smile, laughter, compassion, and wise words of wisdom touched all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; parents; brother, Daniel Manz; sister and brother-in-law, Vern and Marlys Haben; and sister-in-law, Sharon Manz.

She is survived by her sons, Mike (Tammy Welk) Lofquist and Brian (Kim) Lofquist all of Brookston; daughters, Angie (Matthew “Scott” Edgar) Wills of Ohio and Rebecca Bullard of Midway Township; step-son, Tim Olson of Ogilvie; grandchildren, Kyle Bullard, Karlyn (Ben) Lichtenberg, Kayla Wills, Tyler Wills, Trevor (Jade) McLeod, Amanda Welk, Travis (Kelsey) Welk, and Eric (Samantha) Olson; and great-grandchildren, Lanayah, Lincoln, Brayden, Archer, Ella, Weston, Rylynn, Jack, Reed, and Liam. She is also survived by her “baby”, Emma Joy; best friend of over 50 years, Nevelyn Rindahl; sisters, Charlotte (Tony) Winkler of Duluth and Margie (Charles) Young of Merrifield; brothers, Clarence Manz of Saginaw and Donald (Gail) Manz of Duluth; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Essentia Health Hospice, especially her nurse Steve Volkman, for their exceptional care and compassion over the last 8 months.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
