Phillip Forrest Moretto, 87, of Hermantown, passed away at home in the loving arms of his family on Oct. 1, 2020.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1932 to Virginia and Joseph Moretto on the family farm in Dewey, WI. Phil graduated from Superior Central High School, and took over the family dairy farm at age 17, after his father died. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Karlruse, Germany (1955-1957), as a Lineman and a Troop Transporter. He retired from Sears Roebuck in 1986 as a successful salesman.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Baptista; and sisters, Suntina Spehar and Alice Olson.
Phil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy (Moniak); children, Ginny Moretto, Diane (Tom) Steele, LaVonne Moretto and Lance Moretto; grandchildren, Christina, Nicholas and Rachel Steele, Phillip, Alaina and Brandon Lathrop, and Anthony and Elise Moretto; great-grandchildren, Averie, Levi and Kai Steele; and sister, Erma Harty.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Father James Bissonette and St Luke’s Hospice Staff.
Due to Covid, private family services to be held. Interment at the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Duluth.
