Patricia “Pat” Pettit Obituary

Patricia “Pat” Ann Pettit, 89, of Duluth, MN lost her courageous battle with breast cancer on March 7, 2023 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN.

Pat was born to Stanley & Teresa Zymslony on April 2, 1933 in Duluth, MN. Pat graduated from Duluth Denfeld High School in 1951 and began her career working at Avionics in Duluth. She then went on to work at St Mary’s Hospital and retired from there after 25 years of service. After retirement, Pat volunteered at the Miller Dwan gift shop for 12 more years. On August 28, 1963, Pat married Maurice “Pete” Pettit. Together they raised one son, Steven.

Pat was always full of life and enjoyed every minute to its fullest. Along with the daily happy hour Pat enjoyed reading, playing golf, flower gardening, and traveling to Mexico with life-long friends and meeting even more friends along the way. Animal Allies was a very meaningful part of Pat’s life as well. Pat’s best-known saying is “The Bus is Loading”, which meant if you weren’t ready then you risked being left behind! And yes, she meant it! Pat, your golden bus has loaded for your final journey…Enjoy the ride!!

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice “Pete”; son, Steven; and her parents.

Pat is survived by her bonus family that she affectionately referred to as “The Kids”. Darrell and Sherri Pearson of Duluth, MN and their family; daughter Chrissy (Scott) Schmitz and children Zackery, all of Cloquet, MN and Brandan of Jamestown, ND, son Chad Pearson (Amber Bigelow) and children Kylie and Keith of Apple Valley, MN. Special cousin Carol (Jack) Barbacovi of Palmdale, CA and many longtime family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Essentia Hospice and the Solvay Hospice House for the outstanding care given to Pat during her final days.
