“Can’t she just come back mom?”… It’s with deepest sadness that “Nana” Muriel Ralene Soshea, 96, of Hermantown, has passed from this earth on September 29, 2022 at Solvay Hospice House surrounded by loved ones. Our hearts are completely broken, and how we wish there were visiting hours in heaven. Muriel was born in Duluth, Minnesota to John & Mildred (Olson) Bothwell on July 22, 1926. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1944 and went on to earn an Associate degree from Duluth Business University. She worked as an Executive Secretary for USS Great Lakes Fleet for 22 years. Muriel loved to read and travel the world. Her biggest accomplishment was her love, kindness and prayerful heart. Muriel was a prayer warrior, she was always on her knees believing in the miraculous. She was a founding member of Abundant Life church in Duluth. She served as the church secretary, organist, pianist & Sunday school teacher.
Muriel was always so positive, grateful and full of love. We are so devastated by her leaving this world, as she is taking a part of us to heaven as she gained her angel wings.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Soshea; and parents.
Muriel is survived by her son, John (Darlene) Soshea; granddaughters, BreAnna (Jon) Hedlund and Brooke (Nicholas) Powell; and great-grandchildren, Jaden, Sophie, Soshea, Kenzie, Jackson & Maverick.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Essentia Hospice & Solvay staff. They went above and beyond with love, care, and compassion. To have them show such love to Nana (it wasn’t just a job to them) meant the world to us.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 PM on Sunday, October 9th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth with her husband.
