Michael James Anderson

Michael “Mike” James Anderson, 39 of Duluth, MN passed away on February 25, 2023 at home surrounded by Family after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Mike was born in Duluth to Larry and Cindy Anderson on August 23rd 1983. He graduated from Hermantown High School in 2002 where he was a 3 sport standout in hockey, baseball, and football. He attended LSC where he earned his AA degree.

He worked for 20 years as a weather observer for Weather One / Condor Reliability Service at Duluth International Airport.

He married the love of his life Jen Galeski on June 14, 2014. They liked to travel, go to country music concerts, and attend college and NHL hockey games. They also enjoyed flipping houses, with Mike handling the renovations and Jen doing the design.

Mike and Jen welcomed their daughter Emmie in 2020, who brought so much joy and laughter to their lives. He loved his little M&M (Emmie) more than anything. Even as things got more difficult, you would still find him sitting in bed with her reading her stories. Emmie was such a good caretaker helping Mike with his socks and slippers she also helped take his vitals when the nurse came.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lois & Lawrence Besser and Kay Anderson.

Mike will be terribly missed by his loving wife, Jen; daughter, Emmie; parents, Larry and Cindy Anderson; sister, Lisa (Derrick) Johnson; brother, Kyle (Julie King) Anderson; In-laws, Paul “Chip” and Linda Galeski; sister-in-law, Sara (Rob) Haveri; grandfather, Rod Anderson; nephew, Logan Haveri; nieces, Madison Haveri and Haley Johnson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to his lifelong friends John, Dustin, Topher, Sully, Shykes and Vinny; Dr. Neil and Dr. Hunt from the University of MN Fairview; Jamie, Kate and Rebecca, from St. Croix Hospice; and the Hermantown Community and the Hockey Association for their never ending support.

Visitation to be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 3rd at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 PM. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
