Mary Louise Ostroot

Mary Louise Ostroot, 99, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021. She was a graduate of Duluth Central High School and the State Teachers College at Duluth, MN. She taught grade school in Duluth and Wrenshall and went on to marry and raise 5 children and a dog. A long-time resident of Duluth Heights, she attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church, bowled weekly in a league, worked as a Welcome Wagon hostess, and was a member of TOPS. She was an expert seamstress and an award-winning needlework artist, specializing in Hardanger embroidery.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; son, John; brother, John Ouse; and twin sister, Ellen Overlie.

Mary is survived by her children, Ann, Paul, Judy, and Bill Ostroot; and grandchildren, Dean Lafontaine, Mary Ann and Wendy Ostroot.

Visitation to be held at 1pm on Monday, May 10th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with funeral service to follow at 2pm. Interment in Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
