Mary Jane Maguire

Mary Jane Maguire, 91, of Duluth, passed away on September 12, 2020 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Cloquet.

Mary was born in Mason, WI on Aug. 27, 1929 to Alexander and Margaret Panasuk.

Mary worked as an LPN for St. Mary’s and the Benedictine Nursing Home until she retired in 1994. She was member of St. Anthony’s then St. Mary’s Star of the Sea. She and her husband, Richard enjoyed Sunday drives up the scenic North Shore of Lake Superior, always stopping for ice cream on their way home. Mary was an avid baker and cook, and enjoyed making large meals for her family. Mary’s family and friends always came first. She enjoyed travelling with her family to Florida & Arizona. Her biggest pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and siblings, Leo, Peter, William, Helen Wilmot, and Alex.

Mary is survived by her children, Michael (Heidi) of White Bear Lake, MN, Michele Maguire of Arizona, Mary (Keith) Paskett of Duluth (Island Lake), MN, and Caroline (Ted) Johnson of Spooner, WI; grandchildren, Ryan (Erin) Ellis of Marietta, GA, Michael (Meghan) Ellis of Westminster, CO, Natalie (Josh) Bush of Shell Lake, WI, Sean Maguire of Omaha, NE, Anthony (Meghan) Johnson of Madison, WI, and Reed Paskett of Duluth (Island Lake), MN; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Ken) Eggers of WI, and Jane McRae of CO; and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Diamond Willow in Cloquet and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care given to Mary.

Visitation will be held at 10 am on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Committal service at 11 am. Interment immediately to follow at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
