Karen Lee Poppenberg, 83, of Duluth, MN passed away peacefully on August 10, 2021 in her home.
Karen was born in Duluth, MN to Arnold and Viola Jacobson on June 30, 1938. She attended Central High School and graduated in 1957. She worked as a teller for Northern City National Bank before meeting the love of her life, Rodney. She took a break from work to raise her family. In later years, she spent her time working at Glass Block, selling pull tabs, was the local Avon lady, and worked at Suzie’s Greenhouse.
She loved spending time and entertaining family and friends, reading, gardening, traveling, fishing and camping.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rodney Poppenberg; and parents, Arnold and Viola Jacobson.
Karen is survived by her children, Tracey (Bruce) Kellerhuis, Ward (Nancy) Poppenberg and Paul (Cheryl) Poppenberg; grandchildren, Amanda Benson, Tammy Kellerhuis, Thomas (Anna) Kellerhuis and Andrew Poppenberg; great-grandchildren, Bella, Maija, Audrey, Milo and Sadie; brother, Arnold Jacobson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation to be held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 17th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown, with Memorial service to follow at 11 AM. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery with her husband.
