Julia Barbara Ojard, 78, of Hermantown, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017. Julia was raised in Babbitt, MN, which was always dear to her heart. She graduated from Duluth East High School in 1955. She married Thomas Ojard on March 20, 1971. She worked at Pickwick Restaurant for many years, and continued in the food service industry until her retirement. Julia was a beautiful embroider and seamstress. She was known for her tremendous baking talent, especially during the holidays, where her cookie trays were a thing of art; she was mostly known for her famous cherry bars. All her family and friends knew to never bother Julia when she was watching her black and whites or when Bonanza was on. She loved playing cribbage and achieved a 29 hand, which she framed. She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society with many of her friends. Julia was a very special grandmother, spending precious time with her grandkids. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, William & Cecilia McCarthy; and her husband of 46 years, Thomas Ojard. Julia is survived by her children, Barbara (Bill) DeSanto, Brian Jamm'e, and Denise (Jerry) Hall; grandchildren, Jess (Janelle) DeSanto, Jake (Aileen) DeSanto, Abby DeSanto, and Emily Hall; and great-grandchildren, Violet, Lincoln, Stella, Louisa, and Enzo DeSanto. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Golden Oaks in Hermantown for all the special care they showed our mother. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 12 pm on Wednesday, March 29th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown.
