John MacDougall Obituary

John Angus MacDougall Jr, 91, of Hermantown passed away on May 28, 2023 in his home with his family by his side.

John was born on October 18, 1931 to John Sr. and Sarah (Hancock) MacDougall. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1949 and was a proud Veteran of the Korean War, where he served with the Army. He worked at Westinghouse/Eastern Electric in Duluth, retiring after 39 years. After retirement, he drove vehicles for different dealerships for many years. His family and friends benefited from his creative side receiving many wooden creations that he would design and make while retired.

John was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Ann Peterson (1959-1962) and Mary Lou McCuskey (1964-2017); brother, Gordon; sister, Margaret; and his beloved dog, Maggie.

John is survived by his children, Barry (Donna), Tracy and Timothy (Christine); grandchildren, Casey, Bradley and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Devon; sister-in law, Lois (Gordon) MacDougall; brother in-law, Ronald McCuskey; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

John dearly loved his family and friends.  He will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his family.

Private family services to be held. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery with MaryLou. The family requests memorials be directed to https://www.honorflightnorthland.org/  which made it possible for John and two of his life-long friends to take the once in a lifetime Honor Flight trip to Washington DC, or to Salem Lutheran Church in Hermantown, MN.
