JoAnn Daeda, 84, of Hermantown, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2016. JoAnn was born in Duluth Heights on March 5, 1932, to Roland and Ann Carbaugh. She graduated from Central High School in 1949. She was runner up for the Queen of Duluth Heights. JoAnn worked for American Linen alongside her father. JoAnn was united in marriage to William E. Daeda, and the couple had three children together: William, Anna, and Robert. JoAnn was a long-time member of the Duluth Heights Garden Club which tended to the planning and planting of flower beds at Pennell Park at the intersection of Central Entrance and Arlington Ave. JoAnn took great pride in gardening and had an extra large garden of her own on her and her husband's beautiful countryside farm in Hermantown. Over the years JoAnn cared for many animals on the farm, which was one of her true passions. JoAnn was a great cook and had many visitors for coffee and snacks and she loved to talk. She always put others before herself. Her generosity and kind spirit was admired by all who knew her. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Clarence Sellin; husband, William; sisters, RoAnn Norman and Barbara Mesedahl; and brother, John Carbaugh. JoAnn is survived by her children, William (Sherry) Daeda, Robert Daeda, and Anna Daeda (John) of Duluth; grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie, Jessica, Danielle, and Dustin; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Kusnierek; many nieces and nephews; the special SuperOne breakfast gang; and many friends she made along her path in life. VISITATION: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2nd, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Highway. Visitation continues at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3rd with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.
