Janet Beda Sklepas

Janet Sklepas, 78, of Duluth, passed on October 23, 2021 of respiratory failure at North Shore Estates. Janet was born September 3, 1943 to Bernard and Vivian Hoaglund in Wheaton, MN. She attended Denfeld High School in Duluth, MN. Janet worked in many nursing homes and loved working as a teacher’s aide with small children.

Janet met Costa in Duluth and their journey in life took them to Chicago for a period of time until they saw a great opportunity to start a new adventure in life in New Orleans. Janet remained in New Orleans until Costa's passing which is time in here journey in life she found herself with family in Duluth. Along this journey she made many friends, when you became a friend of Janet's you were a friend for life.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 37 yrs, Costa; daughter, Vandy Rae; and brother, Kenneth Waltz.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Laura Lee Goutermont, Robyn Starks and Rene McCoy; sons, Marvin, Monty and Joseph Lindsay; siblings, Myra Nelson, Richard, Don, George Hoaglund, Beth Muth Bruce and Gregory Waltz and their families. Janet had many grandchildren that she held dear in her heart, but Xana, Zane and great-grandson, Jameson, had a very special place in her heart that shined brighter every day. Janet also had many nieces and nephews. Even though she did not spend much time with her children, they all had a special place in her heart and she talked about them often.

Janet was an avid football fan of the New Orleans Saint's, and while watching the game would state "who dat say dey going bet them saints". She kept busy with her hands by crocheting, sewing etc. As Janet's hands started bothering her she started coloring pictures, doing jigsaw puzzles and word finds, but her all time love was to be able to yell out Bingo!!!!!! Janet loved to communicate with those she met along her journeys by phone.

Visitation to be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, Nov. 5th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Funeral Service to follow at Noon.
