James Raymond Kaneski, 88, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020. He was born July 4, 1932 to Frank and Elsie Kaneski.
James grew up in the country on the family farm. He later joined the Naval Reserves for several years and also worked for the SOO Line R.R., in which he retired from in 1992 after 40+ years. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Shirley, and they had 3 boys that they raised out in the country on his hobby farm. James loved gardening and growing all kinds of vegetables. He took pride in his gardens. James loved hunting and fishing and especially camping with his group of friends each summer. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife. He always made friends and was liked by all.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley; parents; brothers, John and Frank; and sisters, Frances and Kathleen.
James is survived by his sons, James (Barbara), Thomas and Daniel (Melissa) Kaneski; grandsons, Jesse and Nick; granddaughters, Courtney and Cassidy; great-grandsons, Travis, Preston and Damien; great-granddaughters, Brittan, Amity and Elle; sisters, Rosemary and Marion; and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life service to be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Fredenberg Community Center, 5104 Fish Lake Rd, Duluth.
