Harold "Uno" Martin Jr. Obituary

Anyone who ever knew Harold “Uno” can tell you a story of how he helped them or someone they knew.

Harold Elmer Martin Jr., 70, of Duluth, MN passed away on Oct. 28, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born at the US Naval Hospital at Camp Lejune in Jacksonville, NC to Helen (Lung) and Harold Martin Sr. on September 29, 1951.

Harold graduated from Barnum High School class of 1969. He attended the Duluth Area Vocational Technical Institute where he completed an Associate Degree. Upon graduation, he took a position as an Assistant Food Service Manager at the John Deere Plant in Dubuque, IA. During his career he worked as a Manager of the Glass Block coffee shop, in food service at UMD, switching to Custodian in Housing where he retired around 53 years of age. He enjoyed all outdoor activities but most of all his favorite thing was taking on the role of “Bumpa”. He received the Eagle Scout award and was involved in scouting, t-ball, little league and football. He enjoyed donating his time and talents to “his kids” (students from UMD). He always went the extra mile to give a lending hand to anyone in need.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Orville and Lois Hanson; and nephew, Joseph Lofald.

Harold is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marge; son, Greg; granddaughters, Taylor and Abby; brothers, Richard (Sue), Kenneth and Jerry (Lori); sister, Nancy Martin; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Mike) Lofald and Missy (Bob) Priolo; brothers-in-law, Steve (Laurie) Hanson and Rick (Tammy) Hanson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Gratitude to Dr. Perelshteyn, Dr. Bonin, and all the P.S. Rudie doctors and staff, St. Luke’s infusion nurses, nurses at 2 West at St. Luke’s, and the doctors and nurses in the E.R.
