Harold Theodore Dobs, 87, of Duluth, MN passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Chris Jensen/Hilltop Health. He was born in Swanville, MN to Lillian (Kahl) and Otto Dobs. He graduated from Swanville High School in 1952. He married Nancy MacMillan on November 9, 1955 in Duluth, where they started their life together and welcomed 4 children.
Harold worked at a variety of different jobs including sailing the Great Lakes on the ore boats as an oiler, working at several companies, for Western Electric, Superwood, Cutler Magner, Elliott’s meat packing, and ended with his favorite job of school bus driver for the Proctor School District. He also enjoyed his position as custodian at Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a member for many years. He had a love for classical music and he played the accordion. He was good at “fixing” things, especially old clocks. He loved photography (specializing in unflattering pictures). He excelled at volleyball and was the “Norwegian” Volleyball Champ at White Pine Resort. He enjoyed “family camp” and fishing with family and friends. He loved reading and playing cards especially 500 and pinochle.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sons-in-law, Rick Feiro and Alex Daniluk; grandson, Shannon; brothers, Glen and Donald; and sister, Evelyn Dicosimo.
Harold is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Nancy; daughters, Elisabeth “Lis” Feiro and Barb Daniluk; sons, Jerry (Sandy) and Duane (Linda); grandchildren, Andy (Holly) Feiro, Becky (Jon) Sjogren, Molly (Andrew) Smallwood, Amelia (Dylan) Montgomery, Michael Daniluk, Sarah Daniluk, Tyler Palmer, Jeremy (Dayna) Dobs, Peter (Yasmina) Dobs, Alyssa (Brian) Walker, Jenna (Stephen) Shelton, Jordan (Chelsea) Dobs, Hanna and Alyvia Dobs; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Sukke; many nieces and nephews; extended family members, Dave (Dar) Fuchs and their children, Stacy (Nate) Leemkuil, Mike (Jen), Dan (Lauren), and 6 grandchildren; adored cat, Maggie; and friends.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caring staff on the “Elm Unit” at Chris Jensen/Hilltop Health.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 10th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hope Center, 2331 W. 3rd St, Duluth, MN 55806. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
