Gerald Hans Christensen, of Duluth, died at Viewcrest Health Center at the beautiful age of 100 years.
Gerald "Chris" peacefully went to be with Jesus on January 7, 2021 due to Covid complications. Born November 18, 1920 in Grand Forks ND to Hans and Laura Christensen, he was the eldest of six children.
At the age of 20 he joined the United States Army and later enlisted in the United State Air Force. During this time he served in WW2 and the Korean War, ending his service career in 1964. He then worked for Westinghouse, retiring in 1984.
Chris lived a happy and full life. In his younger years he enjoyed woodworking, bowling, ceramics, gardening, camping and traveling. In his senior years he enjoyed volunteering at Viewcrest Health Center and recently he was able to connect with his family members in Denmark, greatly enjoying the times they were able to come over to the United States for visits.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene; brothers, Allen and Sven; and sisters, Dora Holmstrom and Inger Jacobs.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Bruce (Deb) Christensen; daughters, Linda (Charley) Armstrong and Candy Christensen; step-daughters, Addy (Mike) Tardy and Cheryl Rustad Kaplan; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Wemowsky; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation for the loving care he was provided by Jason and staff at Viewcrest Health Center, and for making it possible for the special moments he and his daughter were allowed to share during his final days. May God bless each of you.
Service to be held at a later date.
