George Clark Obituary

On July 5, 2020, George Fay Clark, Jr., 94, long time resident of Proctor, MN, joined his dancing partner of 40 years in heaven. He passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at Barnes Care in Esko.

George was born on March 22, 1926 to Helia Sophia (Maki) and George Fay Clark, Sr. in Brookston, MN.

George was a hard-working, selfless and kindhearted man. He worked on the family farm and on the Great Northern Railroad as an engine watchman. He was drafted to the army during World War II, where he was a tank driver in the Pacific Theater from June 1944 to May 1946. He drove dairy trucks, and then retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad after 30 years of service as a Carman.

He met the love of his life, Thyra Irene (Kultala) in 1969 and took responsibility for an instant family of 6 kids, plus their daughter together. George and Thyra loved to dance polkas, waltzes, and the jitterbug. George had a soft spot in his heart for animals and enjoyed feeding the wildlife around his home. He enjoyed home improvement projects, yard work and tinkering in the garage. His to-do lists were endless.

George was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Raymond and Marvin; sister, Janet (Blais/Graber); and step-son, Bill Wolz.

George is survived by his daughter, Susan Doller, son-in-law of 20 years, Jon Doller, and their children, Samantha and Ty. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Steven (Roberta-Sue) Wolz, Edward (Cindy) Wolz, Sharon McIntosh, Linda (Jeff) Hare, and John Wolz; 10 more grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Nancy), and sister-in-law, Marian Clark.

The family would like to thank Essentia Healthcare, Ecumen Rehabilitation, Encompass Healthcare in Superior, Barnes Care and St. Croix Hospice for their respectful care of George.

Private funeral service to be held Monday, July 13th at 1 pm, followed by a military send-off and an outdoor visitation from 2 pm to 3pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no refreshments provided.
