Frances Helen Burgoon of Becida, MN passed peacefully May 20, 2021, from Alzheimer’s.
“Frannie (Peaches)” was born May 19, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to parents William and Catherine Merritt. She resided in Becida, MN with her husband, Roger Scott Burgoon, Sr. until 2018 where she was moved to Havenwood Nursing Home in Bemidji.
Frannie was a teletype operator in NY until she met her husband Roger and married on March 19, 1960. Frannie had volunteered and worked at the Beltrami County Nursing Home and also worked seasonally at Pine Products making Christmas wreaths. Her most favorite job was part-time Rummage Sales. She LOVED finding all the garage sales and would spend most of her weekends shopping. She was a member of the Hubbard Mothers Club which sponsored Holiday events; did crafts; and fundraising for the Becida community and she enjoyed playing Wednesday night cards at Becida Store with her friends. Frances was quick witted and could be lovingly sarcastic, but was always the first person to make you feel accepted.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Scott Burgoon, Sr.; children, Roger “Scott” Jr. (Sandy) of Bemidji, MN, Darryl Burgoon of Becida, MN, and Tracy Burgoon (Kim) of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Matthew Burgoon of Anchorage, AK, Shannon Criss (Zachary) of Palmer, AK, Kevin Burgoon (Ashley) of Whidbey Island, WA, Jacob Burgoon (Alicia Balcer) of Bemidji, MN, Joshua Burgoon (Kayla) of Bemidji, MN, Andy Burgoon of Minneapolis, MN, Ron Dianoski of Virginia, MN, and Colleen Collins of Superior, WI; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, William and Catherine Merritt; Carl and Viola Burgoon; sisters, Teresa Ciconne and Margaret Ratka; and her son, Kelly William Burgoon.
A special thanks to the staff on Maple Lane at Havenwood Care Center for their passionate care of our loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Memorial Service is scheduled for June 19, 2021 at Becida Bar & Grill from 2pm to 4pm.
