Floyd Weiler Obituary

Floyd (Ace) Otto Weiler, age 90, of Duluth, passed away peacefully at his Island Lake home on January 27, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Floyd was born December 11, 1933 in Duluth, MN to Herbert and Ruth (Halverson) Weiler. He went to Hermantown High School and graduated in 1952. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War; once discharged from the Army he was united in marriage to Ardis Downs on April 26, 1958.
Floyd was a very hardworking man and learned many skills from car repair to home building from his Uncle Chris Jensen. He built and designed his three homes and worked with Ardis remodeling many other homes and rental apartments during his lifetime. He began a career as a Sheet Metal Worker Foreman in 1956 and worked on many structural buildings, skywalks, and grain elevators in the Duluth/Superior and Iron Range areas; he retired in 1988 from JR Jenson Company. He was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Local #10 for 63 years. Floyd was a man of faith and a member of the Peace in Christ Lutheran Church.
Floyd loved to be outdoors tinkering in his pole barn, gardening, hunting, and fishing at the “honey hole” catching the big ones! He and his wife Ardis spent over 30 yrs wintering and appreciating the warmer climates in the southern states in their RV homes. They spent their summers on Island Lake entertaining family and friends on their pontoon boat listening to the one and only Johnny Cash!!!
Floyd was a family man and being blessed with three daughters he was the rock of reason that held his family together. God has blessed Floyd and Ardis with a long happy marriage; they lived each day with love, gratitude, and appreciation for the 65 yrs of marital bliss!
Floyd is survived by his wife, Ardis; Wendy (John) Unger, Wanda (Jim) Hansen, and Wynette (Todd) Ampe; grandchildren, Wade Citro, Hannah Schmidt, and Sydney Hansen; great-grandchild, Brooks Citro; and many step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
