Our Faye was born June 2, 1929 in Duluth & passed with family by her side August 31, 2020 in Hermantown. Though only a virtual celebration of Faye’s 91st birthday this year, her 90th was a Luau that had her laughing while dancing in a grass skirt!
Faye was a graduate of the Central High School class of 1947 and still loved reminiscing about her days working at the Roller Rink where she was swept off her feet by one of the gutsiest guys on skates, Vernon Berntsen who she married August 19, 1950. She ambitiously raised 3 children while working fulltime as a Legal Secretary at the same firm for most of 50 years. Faye loved her work so much she even retired twice; the second time was to care for Vern in his final years. Faye was also a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for over 45 years.
Faye dearly loved and appreciated her family, especially the various characters in the vast Berntsen clan! Faye & Vern enjoyed snowmobiling, family time at Lake Wilson & later Prairie Lake. Their travels included Hawaii twice, Las Vegas, Washington DC and South Carolina.
Faye will be happy to be reunited with her dear Vern; her parents & siblings; as well as Vern’s parents & siblings.
Faye is survived by adult children, Gary (Patt), Donna (Cliff), & Carol (Linda); grandchildren, Josh, Leah, Tim, & Brian; and 6 great-grands. She will also be dearly missed by sister-in-law, Mabel; and extended family, friends, colleagues, and really everyone who was fortunate to meet Faye.
Big Kudos to Edgewood Vista for their kind and considerate care, especially during Faye’s past couple months in Memory Care. We all greatly appreciated our recent outside visits facilitated by an already busy staff! And to nurses Jen & Nikki, our thanks can never fully express the sincere gratitude we all feel for having those final moments on Faye’s last day.
A private graveside service is planned and please do celebrate the life of Faye in your own way!
