Ernest Paul Klang, 89, of Hermantown went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 8, 2021. He was the last of 10 children of Carl and Hilda Klang born on June 22, 1932.
Ernie graduated from Proctor High School in 1951. After graduation, he joined the Navy during the Korean War and was discharged in 1954. In 1955, he married Delores Johnson and they moved to Hermantown. He was a loving husband and father. He coached baseball, was a Boy Scout Leader, and an avid fisherman. He was employed at Northern City National Bank for 34 years and retired from Best Buy 11 years later.
He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. His favorite Bible verse was Ephesians 2:8-9. Ernest was a man of faith, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, patience, hopeful expectancy, and loving courage.
Ernest was preceded in death by his siblings; Lawrence (Maxine), Herbert (Alice), Earl (June), Ted (Georgine), Marion (Monte) Montgomery, Martha (Cliff) Dahl, Florence (Greg) Janetta, Violet (Bill) Stafford, and Helen Mansmith.
Ernest is survived by his beloved wife, Delores; sons, Lawrence (Bonnie), Jeffrey (Audrey), Gary (Kathy), and Eric (Annette); and his many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to his cancer doctors and nurses who looked after Ernie while at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Ernest was laid to rest at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Duluth on Monday, October 11th. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, October 17th at Faith Baptist Church, 5693 Maple Grove Rd, Hermantown.
