Dorothy Maxine Holecek, 94, of Duluth, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Chris Jensen Assisted Living.
Dorothy was born August 27, 1927, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Levi and Cecelia (Konop) Larson. She graduated from Central High School in Duluth and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She was a teacher and simply loved to teach. She worked in many of the surrounding areas including Cromwell and Proctor, but mostly in the Duluth Public School System.
Dorothy was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making dresses and costumes for friends and family. Dorothy loved local fairs, and went to the Minnesota State Fair well into her senior years. She was active in the Proctor Fair and judged the baked goods for many years. She was all about her family and enjoyed cooking meals for a house full of her loved ones. Taking care of and spending time with her family brought her so much joy.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1997; parents; brother, Dr. Leonard Larson; and sister, Cecelia Schroeder.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Anne, Bill (Luana), and Dean (Tracey); grandchildren, Kyle, Alisha, Reid, and Morgan; sister, Marge (Don) Johnson; and brother, Tom (Char) Larson.
A private family service was held and she was laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery with her husband, William. A gathering to celebrate her life will be planned and announced at later date. This page will be updated as plans are made.
