Dorothy Jean Gagne, 90, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2021, at Edgewood Memory Care in Hermantown.
Dorothy was born in Duluth on Jan. 15, 1931 to Stan and Gen Chapinski. She attended St. Jean Baptist Grade School and graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1948. She went to work at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co until her marriage to Robert L. Gagne at the old Sacred Heart Cathedral in Duluth on Jan. 27, 1951. Proctor then became her home until 2015.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob (2011); sons, Matthew (1991) and Christopher (2000); brother, Jerry Chapinski (2003); and sister, Sally LaFrance (2018).
Dorothy is survived by her children, Mark (Mary Jo) of Proctor, Paul (Marie) of Minnetonka, MaryBeth (Doug) Plank of Ft. Myers, FL, and Peter (Melissa) of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Jessica (Scott) Gagne, Andrea (Jess) Pollard, Angela (Chris) Hannah, Adam (Amanda) Gagne, Aaron (TJ) Gagne, Nathan (Dina) Gagne, Matthew (Holly) Gagne, Anthony Stagner, Miranda Gagne, and Gabriella Gagne; great-grandchildren, Ben Lyytinen, Grace Lyytinen, Henry Lyytinen, Julia Pollard, Daniel Pollard, Elias Gagne, Norah Gagne, Hazel Gagne, Luke Gagne, Natalie Gagne, Will Hannah, Henry Hannah, Sammy Gagne, and Ella Gagne; siblings, Mary Chris (Clem) Goneau, Daniel Chapinski, and Marty Chapinski (Marie); many loving nieces and nephews; in-laws; and longtime friends, including Pat LaPlante.
Dorothy and Bob were long-standing members of St. Rose Church in Proctor. She and Bob enjoyed traveling to Florida and Hawaii throughout their years together. To know Dorothy was to love her. She had an infectious laugh and a fun-loving spirit, and will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the Edgewood Memory Care staff for the exceptional care given to Dorothy throughout her time there.
Visitation will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 2nd at St. Rose Catholic Church, 2 Sixth St, Proctor, with Memorial Mass service at 11 am. Private interment to take place at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery next to her husband.
