Donald “Tiger” Wayne Johnson, 89, of Hermantown MN passed away on July 24, 2022 at his home.
Don was born August 14, 1932 in Duluth MN. He graduated from Denfeld HS and continued his education at UMD studying business and accounting. Don was a U.S. Army veteran and proudly served in the Korean conflict.
Don married Marita “Rita” Goyette on Feb 17, 1984 and they were married 38 years.
Don worked as an accountant for Pittsburgh Paint and Glass for several years. He was an accomplished bowler and became a proud co-owner of Skyline Lanes. He worked in the pro shop and ran the Junior Bowling leagues. He was an excellent bowling instructor and positively influenced many young people in the sport. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and spent many summers with friends and family at Boulder Lake. He had a great sense of humor, an incredible memory, and was a gifted storyteller. He will always be remembered as a kind and generous person.
Don was preceded by his parents; wife, Rita; brother, Franklyn; sister, Margaret; and niece, Linda.
Don is survived by his step-daughters, Annette Goyette and Suzette Goyette; sister-in-law, Darlene Johnson; brother-in-law, Al Turnquist; nephews, Dean Turnquist and David Johnson; nieces, Jan Jessup and Susan Northey; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and great-nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 31st at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, with Military Honors occurring at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be used to support our local Junior Bowling Programs.
