Donald Allen Johnson, 88, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Solvay Hospice House, with family by his side.
Don was born in Duluth, MN on October 7, 1932, to Hjalmer and Martha Johnson. He graduated from Central High School in 1950. He served in the Army in Panama from 1953 to 1955. He spent his entire career as a buyer at the Glass Block Department store, where he worked for 40+ years when he retired in 1994.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and older brother, Jim.
Don is survived by his wife, Audrey; daughters, Jill Hisdahl and Jean (Jeff) Westman; grandchildren, Adam (Megan), Alyssa (Michael), and Taylor (Zach); precious great-grandchildren, Brody and Harper; and many, many grand-dogs.
Don was a kind and gentle soul whose biggest passions were deer hunting, fishing for brook trout on the Cascade River, building wooden toys, furniture and carvings in his woodshop, or just spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
