Deanna Jean (Sternal) Ritchie

Deanna Jean (Sternal) Ritchie, of Duluth, MN was born on November 7, 1941 and was the first-born daughter of Edmond W. & Eleanor M. Sternal. Deanna went home to our Lord peacefully on October 3, 2023 at St Luke’s Hospital.

Deanna graduated from Denfeld High School. Deanna took pride in serving others through her dedicated work career at St Mary’s Hospital. She loved her independence and was proud to buy her first home. Deanna spent the summers working in her yard & enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, and sitting on her bench taking in the sun. She enjoyed knitting hats and mittens for her nieces and nephews along with baking goodies for her co-workers, the local cab drivers, Kenwood Super One and Cost Cutters employees. A special heartfelt “Thank You” to all of those who showed compassion and patience towards her, especially over the last several years. 

Deanna was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judith E. Sternal; nephew, Edward Thoorsell Jr.; and great-great-nephew, Alexander Girling.

Deanna is survived by her sister, Mary Thoorsell; nephew, Jeff Saucier; nieces, Catherine Saucier, Janine Zitzow, Marissa DiBlasio, Joelle Shostell, EleAnn Mulholland, and Tressa Johnson (spouses & families); and many great nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass to be held on Saturday, November 4th at 12:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 W 3rd St, Duluth, with Father Anthony officiating. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
