David Leach Obituary

On Thursday, November 11, 2021, David Roger Leach passed from this life into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.

David had a huge heart; he volunteered in his community and he loved animals. He enjoyed sci-fi and fantasy (he came from a family of Trekkies and Star Wars geeks), watching sports especially the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys. He loved to shoot guns (but was very serious about gun safety) and even developed a knack for photography.

David Roger loved technology; he developed computer skills at an early age by helping his uncle (David Allen) and grandpa (David Arthur) take apart, troubleshoot, and rebuild many computers over the years.

David graduated homeschool from Alpha and Omega Christian Academy in 2003 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2004 and served our great nation until 2013, earning the rank of Sergeant, including two tours of duty in Iraq as well as in Afghanistan. After he was honorably discharged from the military, he worked in Kansas City before moving to Duluth in 2016 to work for the National Weather Service.

It was in Duluth that David met the love of his life, Rhea Ann Harvey, in August 2017 and they were married at Abundant Life church on August 25th, 2018. David and Rhea were active with their church, family, and friends. They enjoyed traveling up the North Shore, hiking, and photography together.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, James & Josephine Leach and Greg Knott.

David is survived by his wife, Rhea; parents, David (Janet) Leach and Margene Weihe; siblings, Kirsten (Jason) Anthem, Kathryn (Abraham) Rodriquez and Tommy (Rachel) Leach; mother-in-law, Tori (Steve) Brantal; father-in-law Michael Harvey; siblings-in-law, Tana, Cassandra and Michael (Autumn) Harvey; nephews, Shane, Malachi, Gideon and Amos; nieces, Zoey and Eden; grandparents, David & Billye Weihe and Joyce Knott; uncles, Mike (Kathy) Leach, Jim (Linda) Leach, David Weihe, Russell (Amy) Weihe and Gary (Julie) Leach; and cousins, Janna (Stephen) Leach, Matthew Leach, Samantha Leach, Aaron Weihe, Alex (Logan) Weihe, Andrew Weihe, Max Weihe, Brady Weihe, Emily Weihe and Genevieve Weihe.
