Clarence Edwin Black, 93, of Hermantown, MN passed away August 5, 2021 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Clarence was born in Duluth, MN on October 24, 1927 to Elmer and Lillian Black. He was in the Navy Air Force and retired from the Air National Guard in 1987. Clarence was a constable and first chief of police in Hermantown, MN. He was also a volunteer fire firefighter on both Hermantown and Holyoke fire departments. Clarence was also a Hermantown City Council Member.
Clarence is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Marjorie; and son, Larry Black.
Clarence is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Lindquist of TX and Fayette (David) Joyal of Hermantown; son, Richard (Jean) Black of WI; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Dorothy Levine and Elrena Greeney; and brother, Lloyd Black.
Memorial service to be held at 1 pm on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Duluth, 4777 US-53, Saginaw, MN, with Military Honors and burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Veterans Cemetery in Duluth or Prostate Cancer Research Fund.
