Charrie Mae (Oesterriech) Mencel, 76, of Duluth, Minnesota passed away in the home hospice care of her sister, Pamela Thompson, on November 13, 2020 in Saginaw, Minnesota.
Charrie was born on March 10, 1944 to Shirley and Pvt. Bernard Oesterreich in St Paul, Minnesota. She lived nearly all of her life in Duluth, graduating from Denfeld High School in ‘62. Charrie was very active in her church, Forbes Methodist Church of Proctor. She worked as a waitress in many Duluth establishments, most notably the Chinese Lantern for many years and the Sunshine Cafe in West Duluth.
Charrie was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, of 38 years, Robert Mencel of Duluth.
Charrie is survived by her son, Shawn (Jennifer) Jensen; grandchildren, Justin and Jenna Jensen; brothers, Joseph (Diane) Oesterreich of Duluth, James (Donna) Oesterreich of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Jeffrey (Pimm) Oesterreich of Hastings, Minnesota; sister, Pamela (Daniel) Thompson of Saginaw, Minnesota and Stuart, Florida; step-daughters, Margee (Kelly) Senn and Kim (Rick) Jewell; and many nephews and nieces.
Memorial service to be held at a later date.
