Charles Isaacson Obituary

Charles (Charlie) John Isaacson Jr., 79, Duluth passed away on April 8, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Charlie was born in Duluth, MN to Charles John Isaacson Sr. and Edna Isaacson Magnuson on July  7, 1936.   A life long Duluth resident, Charlie chose to enlist in the United States Marine Corps in 1954 at Camp Pendleton, CA.  He served overseas at Futenma MCAS, Okinawa until 1957.  Charlie was united in marriage to Patricia (Pat) Trader on July 12, 1954.  They returned to Duluth, MN in 1957 to raise their family.  Charlie worked for Firestone Tire Co. for 18 years, Diamond Tool for 13 years and in maintenance at Channel 8 until he retired. Charlie was an active volunteer member of the Rice Lake Fire Department for 11 years.  He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Duluth, MN.  Throughout the years, Charlie always enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He was a Karate Instructor for many years.   Charlie was a talented wood carver in his spare time.  Family and friends were fortunate to have a "CI" initialed handmade project that was made with great talent and love.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. Charlie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat; children, Lonnie (Patti) Isaacson, New Brighton, MN, Michael (Cricket) Isaacson, Faribault, MN, Timothy (Gloria) Isaacson, Duluth, MN, Terrance (Renee) Isaacson, Castle Rock, CO and daughter Tracy (Gregg) Schmaedeke, Duluth, MN, one sister, Anne Marie O'Hara (Gordy Estness) Duluth, MN.  He was blessed to have 11 grandchildren, James, Amanda (Luigi), April, Michael, Jon, Taryn, Jessalyn, Jason, Calvin, Hanna, Lauren and one great grandson Michail.  The family would like to thank St. Lukes hospice for their Care and compassion. Visitation: 10:00am until the 11:00 am memorial service Friday, April 15, 2016 officiated by Reverend Karen Linne at Concordia Lutheran Church, 2501 Woodland Ave. Duluth, MN 55803.
