Audrey Loretta Johnson

Audrey L. Johnson, 84, of Duluth, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2022 in hospice care after a short battle with colon and liver cancer, surrounded by family who cherish her.

Audrey was a very giving and thoughtful person who enjoyed her days serving others. If someone needed anything, she would immediately offer a ride or a helping hand, which she enjoyed doing until 2 weeks before her passing. Her philosophy in life was to live to put a smile on another person’s face. Her sister-in-law and dear friend, Shirl Jezierski and Audrey thoroughly enjoyed refurbishing treasures and attending Flea Markets together where they also made beautiful life-long friends. Audrey was busy about her Father’s business serving and attending her weekly Bible study with dear friends from her apartment building.  Audrey can never be replaced, is loved by so many, and will be missed greatly!

She graduated from Duluth Central High School and the majority of her career was spent working in retail for Home Interiors, Schneiderman’s and Gabbert’s. She was also busy serving women and families for the YWCA.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Sarah Peterson of Duluth, MN; husband, Lewis Johnson; and his granddaughter, Alexandria Lund of Cameron, WI.

Audrey is survived by her children, Steve (Teresa) Johnson of Duluth, Ronald Johnson of Duluth, and Kristi (Tony) Lund of Cameron of WI; grandchildren, Amanda Mahlsted(Brent & great-grandchild, Juniper) of WI, Andrew Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Mariah Johnson, Trystin Johnson, and Justice Johnson of Duluth, MN, & Sydney (Cole) Medin of Shokopee, MN; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Del) Jezierski and Nancy (Alan) Billington.

Visitation to be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 22nd at the Great Lakes Church, 4501 Glenwood St., Duluth, with Celebration of Life Gathering to follow at 3:00 PM. Cards for the family may be sent to Sunrise Funeral Home C/O Steve Johnson.
