Timothy Ian Mathias, 60, of Duluth, Minnesota, died peacefully in his home on January 6, 2026, surrounded by the people and things he loved most.

Tim was born in Duluth, Minnesota, to Wesley Wayne Mathias and Wanda Jean Mathias (Winland). He attended and graduated from Central High School and had a long-standing career at the College of St. Scholastica, sponsored by UDAC, where he was widely recognized for his goofy personality and friendly disposition. Tim was a talented gymnast and participated in the Special Olympics in his youth. He loved superheroes, milkshakes, musicals, and sports. His lively spirit and infectious smile will be forever missed.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Wanda Mathias; and sisters, Cindy Mathias and Connie Cloutier (Mathias).

Tim is survived by his sister, Ellen Junger (Mathias); brother, Mike Mathias; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, who will miss him dearly. Tim's family would like to recognize the wonderful and loving care provided by the staff and caregivers at Duluth Foster Company.

A memorial honoring his life will be held by his family at a later date.
