IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy Raymond
Luhm
July 19, 1954 – January 3, 2026
Timothy "Crazy Train" Raymond Luhm, 71, of Duluth, MN, passed away on January 3, 2026 at the Essentia Health St Mary's Medical Center.
Tim was born in Duluth to William Oliver Luhm and Doris Caroline (Holm) Luhm on July 19, 1954. He graduated from Duluth East High School in 1972 and went on to earn Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He was a lifelong member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church. He was very active in Freemasonry (past master of T.W. Hugo Masonic Lodge #318), the Shriners, and numerous other philanthropic organizations throughout his life.
Tim spent over 44 years working in the railroad industry: 34 years with the DM&IR (now CN) and another 10 years with Ansaldo STS/Hitachi Rail where he worked his way up to senior leadership. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He set an amazing example and was very proud of the three exceptional sons he raised with his wife Vicki.
Tim loved spending time with his boys and playing with his grandchildren; he frequently combined that love with one of his favorite pastimes - spending summer days boating with family and friends on Lake Superior. Tim enjoyed traveling and frequently visited his beloved parents and siblings in Palm Springs. As globetrotters, Tim and Vicki often ventured to far-flung destinations. Some of their favorite trips were to the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand and across Europe.
Tim is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vicki (Nelson) Luhm; sons, Justin (Ashley) Luhm, Ian (Dana) Luhm, and Aaron (Kayla) Luhm; grandchildren, Charlotte, Olivia, and William Luhm; parents, William and Doris (Holm) Luhm; and siblings, David (Lesa) Luhm, Ann (Thomas) Goodwyn, and Lynn Hay; along with many nieces and nephews across the country.
The Luhm family extends their deepest gratitude to Tim's close friends, who have been very helpful during this difficult time.
