Thomas Shimmin, 76, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016. He was born on Sept. 27, 1940 to William and Edna in Duluth, MN. Tom took the time to teach his sons everything he knew. He was always willing to help those who needed it. He loved camping, fishing, playing cards, and visiting with family & friends. Tom was preceded in death by son, Richard; his parents; and his brother, Rodney Shimmin. Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Katherine "Kay"; sons, Ron of Bennett, WI and Ray (Sue) of Hoyt Lakes, MN; grandchildren, Nic Grady, Aurora Shimmin, Richard Shimmin, and Jacob Shimmin; brother, Bob Shimmin of Kenneth, MN; and many nieces & nephews. VISITATION: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown.
