Thomas Oliver Ojard, 86 of Hermantown, passed away on September 14, 2014 at his residence in Golden Oakes. He was born on September 9, 1928 to Hans and Gunhila Ojard in Two Harbors, MN. Tom's passion in life was sailing on the Great Lakes. He was employed by U.S. Steel and Great Lakes Pilots Association. While sailing, he met many friends and enjoyed playing scrabble and cribbage. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings. He is survived by his wife Julia Ojard of 43 years, step children Barbara (Bill) DeSanto of Barrs Lake, Bryan Jamme of Arizona, and Denise Ziegler- Hall (Jerry) of Duluth, grandchildren, Jess (Janelle) DeSanto of Lakeville, MN, Jake (Aileen) DeSanto of Woodbury, MN, Abby DeSanto of Maplewood, MN, great-grandchildren, Violet, Lincoln, and soon to join the family Stella and Louisa DeSanto. At Tom's request no services will be held. Arrangements are by Sunrise Funeral Home.
