Thomas "Tom" Lee Nelson, 85, of Duluth, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at his home.

Tom was born in Duluth on April 22, 1937 to Carl and Virginia Nelson. He worked for Duluth Public Schools ISD 709, the 148th Fighter Wing, and Voyageur/Minnesota Coaches. He was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, and enjoyed time with his family.

Tom was preceded in death by his two wives, Linda and Barb; granddaughters, Michelle and Sarah; parents; and brother, George Nelson.

Tom is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathy; children, Debbie (Patrick), David (Tootie), Susan (Ken), Michael (Joi) and Diana; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends; and dog, Bonnie Jo.

Special thank you to the St Mary's Hospice for their loving care, and to his grandsons, Michael & Jacob Larson, for caring for him in his final months.

Visitation to be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, Oct. 10th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow at 12:30 PM at the Gnesen Community Center, 6356 Howard Gnesen Rd.
