Theodore "Ted" Robert Nicolai, 72, of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2022 at Viewcrest Health Center. Ted was born in Superior, WI to Mason Holman and Jane Eleanor (Hawarden) Nicolai on March 8, 1950. He went to Superior Senior High School and graduated in 1969. He worked many jobs over the years in building maintenance and as an owner/operator for Twin Ports Convalescence that provided medical transportation. He enjoyed working with his hands and always had several projects around home and in the garage.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Maude Holman; and uncle, Victor Holman.

Ted is survived by his son, Chad (Crystal) Nicolai; grandchildren, Elizabeth Nicolai and Lydia Nicolai; and close friends, Dan DeMatteo, Dean Moland, Art Winkelman, and Elaine McLeod.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Viewcrest Health Center and Essentia Hospice Healthcare for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 29th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, MN, with Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
