Terry was a very caring, kind and loving person, was witty and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many, especially his mom, sister, and niece. Terrence John "Terry" McDonnell Jr., 58, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on January 18, 2018. Terry was born on April 14, 1959, in Duluth, Minnesota to Terrence John McDonnell Sr. and Katherine Arlene McDonnell. He attended grade school in Honolulu, Hawaii and also grade school in Great Lakes, Illinois. He moved back to Duluth in 1969 and attended Holy Rosary Jr. High and Duluth Cathedral High School, graduating in 1977. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science from The University of Minnesota Duluth, graduating in 1982. After graduating he moved to St Louis Park, working in retail until moving back to Duluth in 2002. He worked at the Duluth News Tribune, and enjoyed visiting with his many customers. He also had a computer repair service and helped many family members with their computer needs. He enjoyed deer hunting, competition rifle shooting, and was an avid long distance biker and weight lifter. History was one of his passions. He had an extensive knowledge of Civil War, WWII, and Naval History. He was a past president of the Historical Society at UMD. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Terrence John McDonnell Sr. Terry is survived by his mother, Katherine; sister, Shari McDonnell- Guimont; brother-in-law, Ron; niece, Elise (Justin) Blackburn; and great-niece or nephew due in April. VISITATION: 2pm on Friday, January 26th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with funeral service to follow at 3pm. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park.
