Susan Jane Kurki, 77, of Duluth, passed away on October 16, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hazel Barry; and her siblings, Darrell and Sharron.

Sue worked most of her career as an executive secretary at UMD in the department of pharmacology. When she retired, she had been working as a grant coordinator for the School of Medicine; a role she was very proud of. UMD was also the place where lifelong friendships were made.

Sue loved traveling, shopping, going out to eat, and attending movies and plays with her friends and family. This time together was very important to her.

Sue was an absolute gem and never gave herself credit for all she accomplished and the wonderful life she built for herself. She was so proud of her family, especially her two grandchildren, but her family is incredibly proud of her too.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Eric; grandchildren, Ailey & Andrew; her sweet dog, Piper; as well as many close friends. "We will love you forever & always."

Per Sue's request, no service will be held. Memorials in her honor can be made to Solvay Hospice.
