IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Leroy
Bryce
May 10, 1959 – January 22, 2024
Steven Leroy Bryce, 64, of Duluth, Minnesota passed away on January 22, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Steve was born in Duluth to Bernard E. Bryce and Jeannette E. (Melchert) Bryce on May 10, 1959. He graduated from Hermantown High School in 1979. Steve was a veteran, serving from 1981 to 1984 as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle Systems Mechanic. He worked at Azcon for 33 years in various roles including as a burner, a yard-foreman, a yard-supervisor, and most recently as a mag-truck operator. Steve enjoyed fishing, camping with friends and family, putting on his annual fourth of July fireworks show, and socializing on Saturday mornings.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Bernard; stepfather, Bill Johnson Sr.; brother, Mark Johnson; and close friends, Rick and Korey.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Jenny (Mitch) Apriesnig; grandson, Rudy; mother, Jeanette Johnson; sister, Michelle; siblings, Billy and Julie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Nicole and Mac, and the other caregivers in the St. Lukes ICU for the excellent care and compassion during Steve's time there.
Open-house style Visitation to be held 11:00 - 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 28th at Sunrise Funeral Home with Military Honors to follow at 1:00 PM. Please dress as Steve would, in a favorite flannel or a plain pocket t-shirt.
From the Copley Gang to his Azcon crew, he made many good friends. He was known as "Crazyman" or "Buck" to some and "crazy uncle Steve" to others. Recently, he brought lots of fun and joy to his role as grandpa. Steve touched many lives and knew how to have a good time, and the family hopes to hear some of the fun stories at the open house. May you think of Steve and smile when you drink an Old Milwaukee (or perhaps more likely, a Coke).
