At 95 years of age, Shirley Rae Mitchell passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2018 at St. Luke's hospice center in Duluth, Minnesota. She was born on October 8th, 1922, in Duluth, to Charles and Viola Paquin. Always loving the rich beauty and culture of the city, Shirley lived out her entire life in Duluth and remained in the home where she raised her family for 63 years, until a month before her passing Shirley was an avid gardener, always looking forward to her first tomato crop and her cherished rhubarb harvest in the summers. As an accomplished cook and baker, she enjoyed sharing her many special treats. She also loved playing cards at the Senior Center, chatting with friends, was an active member of First United Methodist (Chester Park) church and worked assisting the Duluth city hall election team into her 90's She had a self-less love for her friends and family, and frequently spent time with loved ones. Shirley enjoyed making fond memories with her family at Little Grand Lake in nearby Saginaw. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Warren "Mitch"; and sister, Evelyn Thompson Shirley is survived and much loved by her three children and their spouses, Warren (Anne) Mitchell, Jeanette Barouch, and Charles Mitchell; grandchildren, Forrest Barouch, Parker Barouch, Tracey Kruckenberg (Cody), Kyle Mitchell, and Ryan Mitchell; great-grandchild, Finnley Kruckenberg; sister, Barbara (Glenn) Lind; and nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and in our hearts forever. Honoring her request, no public service will be held.
