Sheila Rae Taylor, 73 of Duluth, MN passed away on Nov. 22, 2023, in her home. She was born on February 19, 1950, to George & Louis Skorich. Sheila was born legally blind and throughout her younger years, she attended Jackson, Emerson and Lincoln elementary schools. She learned Braille in the first grade and learned how to type in the third grade. During her junior and senior years of high school, Sheila attended the Minnesota Braille and Sight Saving in Faribault, MN. where she graduated in 1969. After graduation, she received training in independent living skills at the Minneapolis Society for the Blind. She moved to Duluth in 1975 where she started vocational training at The Lighthouse for the Blind and eventually worked there for many years. Sheila also worked as an office assistant for Field Logic and enjoyed her job there for many years. Sheila was a very kind and thoughtful person. She loved studying the Bible and sang in the church choir. Her love for the Lord was shown in the presence of others. Where she lived, she brought much joy and appreciation to her family of caregivers and friends. Sheila appreciated a good cup of coffee and enjoyed going out with her friends and socializing. During the last four years, she would go to the Miller Hill Mall and make Build A Bears. Sheila had a Big Heart and loved her staff at where she resided. She is survived by many friends and caregivers. A Memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday Nov. 28, 1:00 PM at the Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church. Burial Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sunrise Funeral Home.
