Obituary

The family of Sharon Lee Briegel is saddened to announce her passing on December 1, 2025, at the age of 79. She fought three different battles with cancer and won two.

Sharon was a resilient hero that taught us the meaning of strength and perseverance. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who felt blessed with the life she lived. She was a strong and beautiful Irish woman, who wasn't afraid of speaking her mind or standing up for her family. She loved deeply and was unwavering in her devotion to her family. She found immense joy in her children's happiness and their well-being was her top priority. She showered her grandchildren with love, wisdom, and affection.

Sharon married her devoted and supportive husband, Randy Briegel, on June 30, 1973.  Their love was immeasurable. She continuously told her daughters that she felt "extremely blessed to have had her husband caring for her and providing a love she always dreamed of" and always stated that "he's a keeper."

Some of her fondest memories were spent at their family cabin on Whiteface Reservoir with family and friends. She was an enthusiastic baker, gardener, and crafter who could make a masterpiece out of anything she had available. She passed along her love of crafts, rummage sales, reading, music, cooking, and gardening to her children and grandchildren.

Sharon graduated from Central High School in 1965 with honors. She worked for Hanft Fride Law firm for many years, Cuzzo, Bradt & Envall, and retired from American Family.

Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her. Her family will navigate this deep sorrow as they mourn the loss of this vital figure in their lives.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Randy Briegel; children, Don Simons, Jodi (Eric) Lumberg, and Tristi Briegel; stepchildren, DeeAnn Briegel and Matthew Briegel; grandchildren, Jacob, Christopher, Tylor, Alexis, Nathan, Rhianna, Sophia, and Abby; two great- grandchildren; siblings, Ernie Shelton, John (Joyce) Shelton, Mary (Hank) Alvar, Stephanie (George) Schaefer; sister-in-law, Jan Eld; and many nieces and nephews.

An open-house style Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 9th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, MN.
