Roger Henry Wagner, 92, of Hermantown, passed away on July 24, 2025. He was born on September 15, 1932 to Elsie & Henry Wagner.
Roger graduated from Hermantown High School in 1950 as one of the very first classes that completed all K-12 grades at Hermantown. He married Joan Angell on March 22, 1952 and had five children. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1953-1954; worked for the Duluth, Mesabi, and Iron Range Railway from 1950-1957; Diamond Tool and Horseshoe 1957-1970; and became an owner/operator truck driver in 1970 – 2000. He enjoyed driving, taking care of his truck, taking his children along on the many trips hauling grain from the Dakota's and Montana; hauling supplies for the pipeline to Alaska; and the many trips across Canada hauling produce to Prince Albert and Saskatoon. He also enjoyed building his own home where they lived for nearly 70 years, enjoyed gardening, his children and especially his wife of 73 years.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond (Gertrude) Wagner of Hermantown, and Wilmer "Bud" (Evelyn) Wagner of Hermantown; sister, Arlene (Pat) Conley of Plano, Texas; and son-in-law, Dean of Duluth.
Joan and Roger had five children, Cheryl (Dean) Bloomquist of Duluth, David (Shari) of Laurel, Maryland, Bruce (Shelley) of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Steven (Gloria) of Hermantown, and Lorie (Doug) Bauer of Brighton, Colorado; grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Nickel of Andover, Minnesota, Katie (Jeremy) Lunke of Rosemount, Minnesota, Karl (Danielle Rhoades) Wagner of Duluth, and Hollie (Anthony) Nielsen of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and 7 great-grandchildren.
With deepest gratitude the family thanks the Diamond Willow Proctor Staff and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care of Roger and their kindness and compassion to Roger and his family.
Per Roger's wishes, no public services to be held.
