Roger "Sparky" Herbert Carlson, 80, of Duluth, MN passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at Keystone Bluffs.
Roger was born in Hermantown, MN to Helmer and Linnea Carlson on August 15, 1937, and was proud to be the first baby boy born in the Jackson Projects. He graduated from Hermantown High School in 1955. His entire career he worked as a Bricklayer and was a very active member of the Bricklayers Union for over 50 years. He was also a committed member of AA for over 33 years. Roger loved spending time with his grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed his annual lutefisk dinners, class reunions, and maintaining his crew cut hairstyle, which he wore since the day he graduated.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Art; and sister-in-law, Ollie Carlson.
Roger is survived by the love of his life for 59 years, Rhoda "Jo" JoDean Carlson (Cosner); sons, Steve and Dave (Heather Trieschmann); grandchildren; Kali (Thor) Lamiao and Cori Carlson; great-grandchildren, Mason and Zatanna Lamiao; brother, Donald "Ducky"; sister-in-law, Delaine Carlson; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 26th from 1 -3 pm at Salem Lutheran Church, 4715 Hermantown Rd.
