Robert "Bob" Everette Taylor, 76, of Duluth, MN, passed away on April 19, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Bob was born in Topeka, KS to Maurice and June Taylor on September 10, 1944. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1962. He joined the Air Force Reserves in 1963 and in 1966, he became employed full-time with the Air National Guard 148th Fighter Wing. He served in avionics and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1996. He was involved with the initial installation and networking of PC's at the 148th. He later worked for Customer Link and Midwest Patrol, and retired in 2012.
Bob's passions included photography, model railroading, music, computers, and activities that supported his children. He helped construct the HO model railroad exhibit at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. He also helped establish the Cub Scouts at Birchwood Elementary and Boy Scout Troop 28. Briefly, he owned a wedding photography business and never traveled without his cameras and lenses.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, June Fergon; and father Maurice Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Taylor; children, Craig (Suzanne) Taylor, Karla Wallace, Krista (Tom) Despins, Carrie (Corey) Kemp, and Katie Taylor; grandchildren, Trevor, Ryan, Brenden, Liam, Keagan, Ashley, Amanda, Abby, Nathan, Sydney, William and Leo; and five great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Kleinschmidt and the staff of 4 West and 6C-ICU of St. Luke's Hospital for their exceptional care.
Visitation will be held at 4pm on Friday, April 30th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, with service to follow at 5pm. Masks required and COVID attendance protocols in place. Memorial donations may be made to the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, 4503 Airpark Blvd, Duluth, MN 55811.
